DIY Pendulums to Discover Gravity

What you'll learn:

How to write your name in binary, ascii, format.
Computers can only store information in a series of 0s and 1s.

Key takeaways:

Using only two digits, 0 and 1, we can write entire novels.

Pendulums are a fun way to mesmerize kids and adults alike. Pendulums are incredibly powerful in teaching kids science and math while also allowing them to touch and interact with the world around them and see physics in action. In this mini maker science activity, we will create a set of pendulums of different lengths allowing them to swing at different rates (with different periods).

You don’t need a whole lot to make this kids science project, especially if you have a little scrap wood and a few items in your garage. You’ll need a block of wood, wire coat hanger, fishing line, washers, a drill, and some hot glue to create our DIY pendulums.

Project Ingredients:
Wood block (scrap works great)
Thick wire (like from a coat hanger)
Fishing line
Hot glue
