This is a lab booklet that is prepared for students to use as they learn about landfills, discover new vocabulary, and have short and long term projects to work on. In the landfill challenge students will learn about landfill liners as they try to stitch some together, and build a landfill to withstand an earthquake and rain storm.
Students have space for brainstorming solutions, keep track of supplies they use, and a formula to gauge the success of their contraption.
PDF format is easy to use. Documents that print half sheet or print on a letter duplexed to be able to fold into a student booklet. The download comes with a key that has interesting information and things to help students think about the problem, as well as a lesson plan to make sure you as a teacher are prepared!
